In order to fill this large bottle of liquor, the makers took over an hour and two whole casks of whiskey were used. The liquor used was a 32-year-old Macallan Scotch.
To give you an idea of the quantities, a single cask of Scotch whiskey can be given to a group of 30 people between eight and 12 bottles each.
The 311-liter bottle officially surpassed the previous record-holder bottle, called The Famous Grouse, which was 83 liters.
According to the Food and Wine portal, a single bottle of Macallan 30-year-old Scotch whiskey can cost between $ 5,500 and $ 7,000, which means that the large 311-liter bottle costs around $1.84 million .
It should be noted that the remaining Scotch whiskey that was not bottled will be reused in a collection that they will call “The Intrepid”, which will feature 14 separate sets of 12 bottles.
The liquor bottle was made by investment firm Fah Mai Holdings Group, asset company Rosewin Holdings and bottler Duncan Taylor Scotch Whiskey, and has already been named the world’s largest bottle of Scotch whiskey by Guinness World Records.
Like most foods and drinks, Scotch whiskey has a long history dating back to the 11th century, according to the official site of the Scottish government.
The first Scottish monks wanted to create their own drink and, since they did not have grapes, they began to use different grains, which were available to them at that time. From this experiment they made a drink that they called uisge beatha (which means “water of life” in Gaelic). Later its name changed to whiskey.
Currently, Scotch whiskey has four main ingredients: water, malt, peat and yeast, and it is considered a very prestigious drink.
